FINANCIAL AID TO NEEDY STUDENTS IN CUEA
Catholic University of Eastern Africa in collaboration with other Development
partners awards partial loans, grants and scholarships to needy students
at all levels of study to enable them achieve their academic dreams at
the University and beyond.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Selection criteria for all scholarships depend on: -
1. Applicants level of economic need
2. Academic performance
3. Applicants character, leadership qualities and participation in community
service
4. Active commitment to ones faith
5. Registered in full-time study
Note: Self-sponsored evening and school-focused students may not qualify
All scholarships are: -
1. One year, partial tuition grants
2. Equally distributed between women and men except where a grant targets
a single gender
3. Applicants should have adequate funds for the current year of study,
scholarship results
are released in the beginning of the following academic year.
5. Finalists in all levels of study are not eligible.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Application forms are in returned by 28th February of each year.Applicants
should attached: -
i) Recommendations from a member of the Faculty, a religious leader and/or
an
administrator
ii) Copies of academic transcripts for the previous semester
iii) CUEA Identification card.
TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS
1. University Tuition Grants (UTGS)
•One year grant to students in all faculties who qualify
2. St. Peter the Apostle Tuition Grants
•Exclusively for Diocesan Priests, the religious men and women in
all programmes of study.
3. The Missio Aachen Grants
•Partial tuition grants for needy students (lay men and women, priests
and the religious
in religious studies, theology, social work and education) whose skills
might be
applied in the service of church institutions and the less fortunate members
of society.
4. The Rattansi Educational Trust Awards
•From a philanthropist, the Rattansi Family;
•A partial tuition grant for deserving Kenyan undergraduate students
only
5. The CUEA Founders Award
•A grant offered in honour of the fore fathers (the Bishops who
founded Catholic
University)
•It is exclusively for lay and religious Catholics from the AMECEA
region
•They should be intellectually gifted, needy and committed to community
service.
•They have to be recommended by the University Chaplain, the Dean
of Students,
Dean of faculty, a club’s patron and a parish priest.
6. Joe B. Wanjui Education Trust Awards
•From a philanthropist, the Dr. Joe B. Wanjui Family
•For gifted FEMALE students in science disciplines
